Do not introduce Digital ID UK

25th September 2025, news broke that Kier Starmer, the UK Prime Minister, would make an announcement to implement a Digital ID. I’m using this post as a little summary to share with family and friends.

What is Digital ID UK?

Here’s a great video from Big Brotherwatch explaining more about Digital ID.

But I have nothing to hide

This is a common response I hear from family and friends when talking about facial recognition or mass surveillance.

It seems like a sound, logical stance. But it’s not about whether you have anything to hide or not, it’s about rights as citizens to privacy and liberty. Not to mention security of your personal data.

Here’s a solid video going into why “I have nothing to hide” is a terrible response.
