Murder mystery script: There’s been a murder!

My first attempt at script writing was performed over the bank holiday weekend (May 6th and 7th 2012).

Every piece of creative writing I’ve written up until now has been short stories, poems and marketing material – I’d never written a script before. However, I’ve had the great pleasure of being apart of the script writing team for a local Performer Training group I’ve been a member of for the past 2 years.

The team was made up of about 4 or 5 people including the Director. We all gathered on a number of occations to discuss the whole project from setting to characters and through to plot. Then 1 of the team members and myself were charged with putting pen to paper and actually writing the script.

It’s been awesome to see something I’ve written being brought to life by a group of actors. To see the actors take the words I’ve written and then they make them even better. It’s definitely something I’ve enjoyed doing and look forward to writing more scripts in the future.

The reviews and comments we got back from the night were outstanding but I think the greatest compliment the writing team received was that many people thought we had bought the script from a professional company and simply acted it out.

So as promised here are a couple of pictures from the night. The two bottom ones are some of the set and the other is me dressed up as a police officer.
